How Temperature Conversion Works

1
°C to °F: Multiply by 9/5, then add 32. Example: 25 °C → (25 × 9/5) + 32 = 77 °F.
2
°F to °C: Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. Example: 98.6 °F → (98.6 − 32) × 5/9 = 37 °C.
3
°C to K: Simply add 273.15. Example: 0 °C = 273.15 K. Kelvin uses the same interval size as Celsius.

Practical Examples

Summer Day

A warm 30 °C afternoon.

= 86 °F = 303.15 K

Oven Baking

Recipe says 350 °F.

≈ 176.67 °C

Cold Winter

Temperature drops to −10 °C.

= 14 °F = 263.15 K

Science Lab

Liquid nitrogen at 77 K.

= −196.15 °C = −321.07 °F

Frequently Asked Questions

At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?
Celsius and Fahrenheit scales meet at −40°. So −40 °C = −40 °F.
Why does Kelvin have no degree symbol?
Kelvin is an absolute thermodynamic scale. By SI convention, it is written as 'K' without the degree symbol — for example, 300 K, not 300 °K.
What is absolute zero?
Absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C) is the lowest possible temperature, where molecular motion essentially stops. It has never been achieved in a laboratory.
How can I quickly estimate °C to °F?
Double the Celsius value and add 30. For example, 20 °C ≈ 70 °F (exact: 68 °F). This works well for everyday temperatures.
