How Currency Conversion Works

Find the exchange rate between two currencies — for example, 1 USD = 149.5 JPY.

Multiply the amount by the rate. To convert $500 USD to JPY: 500 × 149.5 = 74,750 JPY.

For the reverse, divide. To convert 10,000 JPY to USD: 10,000 ÷ 149.5 ≈ $66.89 USD.

Where do the exchange rates come from?
Rates are fetched from the European Central Bank (ECB) via the Frankfurter API. They are updated on ECB business days (usually weekday afternoons CET).
What if the rate fails to load?
If the live rate cannot be fetched, approximate reference rates are used and clearly marked. You can also manually adjust the rate in the editable field.
Are these rates the same as my bank's rates?
ECB rates are mid-market reference rates. Banks and exchange services typically add a margin (spread), so the actual rate you receive will differ slightly.
Can I use a custom exchange rate?
Yes. Click the 'Edit' button next to the rate display to unlock the field and enter any rate you wish. The conversion updates immediately.
